Conceived as a soundtrack to composer Mike Smith's adolescent fantasy life, Invocation/Transformations finds the intricate minimalist textures and banjo mathematics of Muskox's previous releases regarbed in the electric finery of early 70s prog rock and the Canterbury scene.

Lutonian Knights is just about as self-referential as you can get. Allowing for some minor artistic license, its three parts are a recomposition of my own Caveman Caveman Crystal Skulls using the musical material of Muskox Jr. It’s something of a rebirth, if you’ll allow it. Shaw-Han Liem described LK III as the message left by the Penguin on Batman’s voicemail, and I’m apt to believe him. Although unrepresented here, LK II will appear on a future release.

i deplore the cliched terms music critics over-use, so please understand the gravity inherent in my usage of the words "revelation," "tour de force," and "triumph" in my review. vaisseau monde, le grand sbam's dynamic tour de force, is a stunning revelation, an astounding triumph. Tim Patterson
